Ibsen Conference in Athens
16.09.2002
The Centre for Ibsen Studies (University of Oslo) will organise the Ibsen conference "Ibsen, Tragedy, and the Tragic" at The Norwegian Institute in Athens, Greece, from 30 November - 4 December 2002.
The topic of this conference is different aspects of the tragedy and the phenomenology of the tragic in the works of Henrik Ibsen, including hybrid forms of the genre. Focus will be on Ibsen's relations to both ancient and modern tragedy, with its new expressions and new understanding of the tragedy and the tragic. The lectures will approach the subject from a variety of perspectives, investigating Ibsen's historic and domestic drama from esthetic, structural, philosophical, and historical points of view. See the preliminary programme at the website of the Ibsen Centre.
